VOC Sampling

What Are The New Protocols?
The newest version of SW 846 Update III requires specific procedures for the on-site sampling and preservation of soil samples for volatile organic compound (VOC) analysis.  Many States have already implemented the new methods and numerous other States are considering implementation in the near future.  The methods as currently written are confusing and contradictory.

There Are So Many Questions About the
New Soil Sampling Protocols for VOCs...

  • How many vials do I have to collect per soil sample............................As many as four.
  • Do I use methanol, bisulfate, or phosphoric acid?.........................................It depends.
  • How do I know if the preserving solutions are clean?.......................................You don't.
  • Is it true that the vials might explode if carbonate is present?............................Yes, it is.
  • Do I need to weigh the samples in the field?...................................You're supposed to.
  • What about DOT and health & safety shipping regulations?....................You better learn.
  • How many coolers do I need to eliminate cross contamination?.....................At least two.
  • How can I do all of this and my regular job, too?...............................You probably can't.
The Answer is TEG's On-Site Analysis.
TEG has the solution to these and many more questions.  Don't take a chance on getting it wrong.  Let our professionals give you the advantage.

The simplest solution to all these concerns is to do the VOC analysis on-site.  TEG has provided on-site analysis for over eight years and operates the largest network of mobile laboratories across the country.

TEG Mobile Laboratories:

  • Provide certified data fulfilling the new SW 846 Methods.
  • Reach 5ppb (ug/kg) detection limits.
  • Remove the sampling preservation headaches from your on-site tasks.
  • Eliminate all hazardous waste and DOT shipping issues.
